Winning the Performance Race with TTI

TTI Performance Systems, Ltd. is a research-based, problem solving company dedicated to improving the quality of life in the workplace through the application of assessments. The company's mission is to help organizations effectively manage the selection and development of their most valuable asset—people.

TTI offers comprehensive products to meet a variety of needs and special applications. The products are easily integrated into timely solutions for today's challenges in organizational development and effective management.

TTI Performance Systems has achieved many "firsts" in the assessment industry, including the first to computerize a DISC assessment and make the software available to end-users.

TTI is the parent company of Success Insights (SI), which has the international distribution rights of all TTI products. TTI and SI are and have been the world leaders in developing cutting edge technology to deliver our assessments. Our number one product is the Style Analysis TM Instrument in conjunction with our behavior-based reports, which was first introduced in 1984. It has led the way in many areas. Below is a list of our firsts in the area of behavioral assessments:

First to computerize Marston's four dimensions of normal behavior.
First to generate personalized reports based on four dimensions analysis.
First to lower the reading level of Marston's root words.
First to incorporate the low side of the four dimensions of behavior into computerized reports.
First to research and build specific computerized reports to meet the needs of the marketplace for example; Sales, Employee-Manager, Customer Service, Team Building, Executive, Time P.L.U.S., etc.
First to measure specific behavioral talent on a scale of 1 to 10.
First to develop a sales training program on DISC-Buyer Profile Blending.
First to validate the appearance of a farmstead or business based on DISC.
First to validate stress based on disparity between Graph I and Graph II.
First to validate that Graph III will not provide accurate information when Graph I and II show significant disparity.
First to sell DISC software on a per usage basis.
First to integrate values and behavior into one report.
First to receive a patent integrating values and behavior.
First to have English and 15 other languages with capabilities of printing either language.
First to identify and generate personalized reports based on 384 graphs.
First to produce a 60-section wheel.

Our behavior-based products have been continuously updated and have been the subject of various research projects and validation studies over the years.

The original validation studies were done in the 1980's, and ongoing research has been done over the last 18 years including:

Bill J. Bonnstetter - Trucking Industry Study of the Reduction of Turnover, Accidents and Workman's Comp. Claims – 1988-1993
Dr. Russell Watson - Face Validity Study – 1989
Dr. David Warburton - Face Validity, Construct Validity and Predictive Validity Studies- 1992
Dr. Jim Hall - Maintenance Workers Safety Study - 1993
Bill J. Bonnstetter - United States Top Sales Performers using both Behavior and Values
Bill J. Bonnstetter and Frank Scheelen - German Top Sales Performers using both Behavior and Values
Bill J. Bonnstetter - United States vs. German Top Sales Performers using both Behavior and Values
Dr. Jim Hall – Internal Consistency using Spearman-Brown Split-Halves and the Kuder-Richardson Formula 21 Reliability Coefficients comparing the Patient Communication Instrument, Cleaver Self DISCription Instrument and the Style Analysis - 1999
Dr. Russell Watson and Dr. Peter Klassen - Construct Validity Study with 120,000 US behavior profiles and 43,000 values profiles – 2002-2003*
Dr. Russell Watson and Dr. Peter Klassen - Construct Validity Study with 6,300 German behavior profiles and 2,200 values profiles – 2002-2003*

* In progress now, numbers are approximates.

In addition to our behavior based products we have also developed a values and attitude based assessment titled Personal Interests, Attitudes and Values TM (PIAV). The PIAV assessment measures "WHY" a person does what he or she does or it is the motivators behind the behavior, which is "HOW" a person does things. This is why it is so important to have both tools to get a more complete picture of a person. For example if you assess two people and they have very similar behavior profiles but they have different values and attitudes, they are going to perform differently. This is one of the areas that separates TTI/SI from the competition. Below is another list of our firsts in regards to values and attitudes:

First to computerize an attitudes and values instrument.
First to integrate attitudes and values with behavior into one report.
First to receive a U.S. patent for integrating attitudes and values with behavior.
First to do research in multiple countries with attitudes and top sales performers.
First to show one attitude appears in first place 73% of the time in top sales people in the U.S. and Germany.
First to look at attitudes and values both personally and against the national mean in one report.
First to present attitudes and values visually within a wheel.

Another area in TTI's product development is in the area of competencies. It is also very important to look at "WHAT" soft skills a person has mastered, has some mastery or not mastered in relation to the JOB. These products also do another VERY important thing. They assess the job to see what competencies are important to be a superior performer in the job. Below is another list of the firsts in the competency arena:

First to identify how bias can hinder the process of discovering the real performance issues.
First to build a complete system that includes three different views of the job.
First to have the same system that looks at the job and the people and allows comparison.
First to identify which soft skills are easy or difficult to learn based on behavior and/or attitude.
THE LATEST RESEARCH EFFORT:

We are currently working on several new Construct Validity Studies including a database of over 120,000 records for the Style Analysis Instrument.

Target Training International (TTI) and Success Insights International (SI) over the last 18 years have made continuous improvements to the product line including research, validity and new product development.

Everyday our products are used by companies around the world to successfully hire new employees against internal benchmarks. Not many of our competitors can make this claim or even recommend their product for the selection process.
